16th October 2009US diplomat meets Aslam Bhootani
QUETTA: Karachi-based US Consul General Stephen G. Fakan held a meeting with Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani here on Thursday.
The speaker informed the US diplomat about reservations of the people of Balochistan about the reported US plans for drone attacks in Quetta and other Balochistan areas.
He said extremist elements did not exist in Balochistan. The people of the province were peace-loving and would never harbour terrorists, he said, adding that the Pakistani security forces were alert and capable of dealing with terrorists if found in the province.
They also discussed the forthcoming visit of Mr Bhootani to United States on the invitation of USAID. He will be leaving for the US next week. The speaker will discuss the legislators support programme with USAID officials.
Mr Bhootani thanked Mr Fakan for his help in establishing media and resource centres in the assembly.
